YOU CAN ALWAYS IMPROVE ON WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING.
No matter the level you think you're, there's always an advance level, there's always a bigger and better level. If you're still looking at what you did yesterday as the greatest, then you're doing little or nothing today. We always have opportunity to improve on the existence, we can always work on what we're doing to bring more fine result, even if what you're doing now seems the best work on it to get better. Never you be afraid of bringing in new innovative into what you know, new ideas will shapen that your existing knowledge into greater one. Looking around to see people that are really doing well in their fields I discovered that they always bring in new ideas, they always want to improve on the existing knowledge, they always look forward to see another dimension of what they know or are doing. For instance, look at Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, he is always bringing in new features, something more useful or finer than what we know, he is always on the improving side, that alone is a motivator to some of us. Bringing in new thing will motivate people and your subjects. That can actually be the message you're passing unconsciously.
I read a quote recently from John D. Rockefeller and I quote it: "don't be afraid to give up the good to go for the great". History recorded it that John D. Rockefeller was the richest man in US and he simply said it that, one of the greatest secrets of his success is his ability to always go for improvement, he always try new method to his business. Quit status quo and add new idea or possibly accept new suggestion. Whatever you're doing learn new approach to it and see fine colour coming out of it.
You want to take lead in your doings? Then learn how to improve on that which you know how to do.
GREAT LEADERS ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR WAY TO IMPROVE WHAT THEY KNOW.
